Day 43

The Samrat Yantra, the biggest sundial in the world was my location today. From 6.00 am till 12.00 on the west wing and from 12.00 till 6.00 pm on the east wing. It was a lot of fun and a lot of step to climb. My two lovely assistants seem to enjoy it as much as i do, they are really committed and eager to help. I think they adopted the all project as theirs. I stay with them for the 2 last hours of the evening watching the shadow slowly reaching the top of the east wing and talking about the history of the place. The oldest one has a lot of stories to tell about it and you can feel he loves this place too. A beautiful moment, thanks to them.

6.00 am on the west wing.

12.00 on the east wing.

For lunch i've been invited to an hindu temple where i took part in a ceremony with 50 people chanting in a very chilling manner, a great moment during which i didn't took picture. And then was the lunch.

At the temple entrance there is this pile of ashes and i promesse i've seen people coming in taking a pinch of ashes and eating it..

Waiting for the sun... to reach the top of the east wing at 6.00 pm.

My first traffic-jam in Jaipur, a very funny moment of chaos.

Say hello to my friend the Maharaja Sawai Jay Singh second of the name, founder of the city and builder of the Jantar Mantar. A man of numerous achievement, a really unique historical figure.
